Citizens of Runnymede

The English colonists of Runnymede, Kansas were fond of having their portraits taken in Harper, Kansas so that they could send them back to relatives in England. In many of the portraits the colonists sported guns, knives and cowboy regalia, although by 1890, when most of these photographs were taken, the wild west had been gone for twenty years or more. Photographs courtesy of the Kansas State Historical Society.
